What once was an exhibition space in Glasgow in 1952 and Dryburgh Abbey's Gift Shop is now a beautiful, light-filled Studio, complete with chandeliers, low level Moroccan lighting, wood burning stove at its heart and an outdoor covered wooden deck. What a magical transformation this space has enjoyed as it embarks upon the next stage of its life's journey as a unique Venue at Roulotte Retreat.
Nestled amidst Scots Pines next to the meadow The Studio offers group space for workshops, gatherings, celebrations, events and boutique weddings for groups who are staying at Roulotte Retreat. Beautiful by day with light coming in from all directions the space comes into its own at night with solar fairy lights and lanterns adorning the branches of the Scots Pine which emerges through the deck creating an enchanting atmosphere, reminiscent of Africa, ideal for al fresco dining and events with a difference!.
Eco-friendly credentials come from the transformed and recycled materials from the original building and electricity is supplied from the multitude of solar panels on its south facing roof.
Our 1950's Studio offers a large, elegant space to get together with family and friends for celebrations and gatherings. Inside, light filled and warm guests can gather around the huge wood burning stove at its heart. Enjoy culinary delights seated at several round tables or in a horseshoe around the wood burner. For more informal dining, cook up a storm in the open plan kitchen and serve buffet/banquet style, then enjoy sitting around the fire, on the chaise, armchairs and cushions.
As well as celebrations and events, Roulotte Retreat is just perfect for workshops where participants gather in the Studio and on the Deck , but also can enjoy the privacy of their own Roulotte space for quiet contemplative, reflective, and creative time.
